Where can I get tested for ADD?

[Chicago Filter] Where can I find a place that tests for adult ADHD/ADD, and accepts insurance up front?

Most places I've tried want me to pay up front and then send the bill to my insurance company, which would be fine except the price ranges from $600-$2000. I don't have much time to save up the money because it's urgent (poor performance in college, not really looked into earlier because of at-home issues, in case anyone is wondering.)

I can pay up front/bill the insurance later if the price is ~$300, so if you know any places like that that would be great also. Thanks in advance!

i assume you've already discussed this with your student health provider on campus?

I know you're anon but have you called your insurance company to find out if they will even pay for the testing? I don't have experience with interacting with the actual insurance company but I have done psych testing. From what I understand, some companies won't pay at all and others are very picky about which tests they will reimburse for.

Have your primary care doctor give you a referral to a psychiatrist, explain your symptoms and how they affect your life, and let them make a diagnosis.

It almost sounds like the doctors you have been contact with are in the diagnosis shopping business, where you decide what you have, you pay them a ton of money, and they figure out a way to make the diagnosis work and give you drugs. Kinda like how some of the weight loss doctors advertise.

It's in the burbs, but the Arlington Center for ADD accepts insurance up front. (At least it did; of course you'll want to double-check.)
