Global payment processor for VAT?
I plan to launch a subscription service as a freelancer. A sticking point is that I and my business are located in Sweden, which means that I am obligated to collect VAT (value-added taxes) on subscription services purchased by Swedish residents (and possibly other EU residents as well but that part I can figure out on my own). I am having problems finding an appropriate and affordable payment processor. [more inside]
Someone Is Wrong on the Internet (PagSeguro Edition)
Over the last few weeks I've been receiving receipts for transactions from PagSeguro, a Brazilian payment platform. These are not my transactions, and I have verified that they are not actually affecting my financial accounts, so it appears that someone has just erroneously entered my email address as theirs and this is probably not a scam. What can/should I do about this? [more inside]
"Something went wrong" isn't enough, Sony
Hi ALl,
I'm tearing my hair out a bit here, not literally but close enough. :) I got a PS4 for Christmas, thanks to my brother, and ever since have been struggling to buy games for it. I'd appreciate any help. [more inside]

At Loggerheads with Bank Charge-Off Situation, Any Advice?

Does the IRS not know about Pacific Time?
I'm trying to make my tax payment online in time for today's US tax deadline, and both DirectPay and one of the private payment partner sites are acting like it's the 16th already. I know I pushed it to the deadline, but I've been trying to do this since 8:45 PM (West Coast time). DirectPay even had a planned service outage at 8:45 PM (West Coast time). Am I just out of luck because I'm now past midnight East Coast time? Or what should I do?
Best way to deposit a CAD check into a USA business bank account?
My US company has a business bank account (Azlo) that doesn't accept checks from international banks. A Canadian corporation wants to pay us by Canadian check. Getting them to pay in USD is a real hassle, so we'd like to accept the check... but have no idea how to get it into the Azlo account. In your experience, (a) what's the best way to deposit a Canadian check into a US business bank account that doesn't accept checks form international banks, (b) what steps did you take and (c) how long did it take? Best way to do an ACH transfer to another person?
My new landlord prefers rent payments via "direct deposit", by which I believe he means direct ACH transfer. Apparently his other tenants manage this just fine, but my bank doesn't allow me to do direct-to-bank ACH transfer unless it's between accounts that I own. What is the best way to make a direct transfer to his account that is not a wire transfer and doesn't require him to sign up for something (like Zelle) in order to receive the money?
Should we pay our mortgage quickly? Home office edition
Hello, we have a 15 year mortgage for our home, and we also have a largeish investment account that we could empty to pay off about a third of the mortgage, allowing us to pay it off within 5 years. HOWEVER, I also have a home office for which I can write off a portion of our mortgage interest, so there is an amount of time in which this writeoff is better than the interest we save (i think). We live in California. Is there a website or equation that will tell us what the best thing to do is, money-wise? [more inside]
My coworker offered to pay me for my help outside of work
My coworker offered to pay me for helping them out at their spouse's funeral and I feel weird about it. It feels like too large of a request to do it simply as a favour, but I feel weird and awkward accepting money though. Complicating factor: my free time is limited and I could use the money. Can a bank refuse ACH payments?
Someone has claimed that their business bank account does not allow ACH transactions for "fraud prevention." I am not familiar with any banking institution in the U.S. that prevents usage of this basic feature. Am I missing something?

Can you pay your balance on a US credit card from a Japanese bank?
I'm getting set to take a position in Japan for a year or more. I have a recurring payment I make to a friend on a money transfer app - PayPal usually - which then charges my credit card. But now my paycheck will be going to a Japanese bank. So can I pay my US credit card with a Japanese bank? And if so, what specifics should I expect? (transfer fees etc)
Initiative Q sounds too good to be true, right?
An acquaintance has invited me to join Initiative Q (https://initiativeq.com/). I’m sceptical about “free money” and the promise of riches in exchange for personal data. I did some googling on Initiative Q and its founder Saar Wilf. However, I can’t seem to find any articles online that tell me why it is a bad idea to join - or even how it is supposed to work. MeFi community, please tell me if my worries are legitimate and where to find an explanation on a reputable site I could send to my acquaintance. Thanks!
Payment date pushed back three months
I am a freelance writer. I've just learned that an issue I'll be in has been pushed back a few months, which means my payment has been pushed back as well. This poses a significant hardship to me, and I'm not sure if there's anything I can do (aside from politely mention it to my editor, which I did). [more inside]
Which exchange rate to use?
I have a short-term contract with a domestic subsidiary of an European firm. We have negotiated my rates in USD, but I shall be invoicing and receiving local currency funds via a domestic transaction. So, the, perhaps silly, question is, which is the 'fairest' or 'proper' exchange rate to use in my invoice? Is the normally published inter-bank rate fine?
iTunes, iCloud payment problem
My wife has had an Apple account for many years. Within the last year, she has added the 0.99 monthly iCloud service.
She recently changed her credit card/payment method without a hitch. However, her .99 iCloud service continues to be billed to the old credit card.
How can she fix this?
Money can be exchanged for goods and services (but not for Netflix)
I've recently moved, and am trying to set up a Netflix account for myself. When I try to do this, I get an error message: "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use." But my credit card is working fine everywhere else. I tried my partner's card (same issuer, different number) and got the same error message. I called Netflix, and the CSR said "the problem is not with your card." So the problem is with Netflix... but they either can't or won't fix it? [more inside]

Can a teen have Paypal if she has a bank account?
My 13 year old has a bank account that she has had since she was five. It's connected to my husband's and my bank account, showing that she is a minor and that we could get into it if we wanted because she is 13, but her name is on the account.
So with that account, can't she have Paypal? She is getting into modeling and they want to pay her through Paypal, but I would like it to be under her own personal paypal just so that it is separate from My paypal.
I heard that you have to be over eighteen to have Paypal.
She does not have a credit card, but she does have the bank account with her name on it, so that could be how she is verified through the Paypal.
Thanks in advance!
