How can I tap into that sweet, sweet argan oil goodness without breaking the bank?

I've been hearing about the miraculous effects of argan oil on unruly hair for a while now. I'm interested in buying some from my local health food store, but since the American argan oil industry seems to be overrun with trendy cosmetic companies selling diluted products (full of silicone and stuff), I'm not sure how to go about the DIY method with a purer oil. Anyone have any experience or pro tips? If it matters, my hair is thick, coarse, and dry everywhere but the scalp, and I use a sulfate-free shampoo.

The Josie Maran line product you linked to is 100% argan oil.

Response by poster: You're right-- but I'm pretty sure it's still different from the stuff I'd get at a crunchy health food store... I think. This is one confusing oil.

Majestic Mountain Sage seems to have some available at very reasonable prices. I'm not super knowledgeable about oils and fragrances and soapmaking kinds of things, but I've only ever heard good things about MMS.

The most obvious difference is that it's $28/oz, versus $3/oz at Majestic Mountain.
