Can a Male have Multiple Orgasms?

Possibly NSFW question about male masturbation.

I'm curious about what I'm doing and if anyone knows the name for it so I can try to read up about it online. When I am masturbating I reach a point where I realize that I'm going to come. At this point if I stop touching my penis, I will ejaculate a seemingly normal amount of semen and have what feels like a light orgasm. At this point, I can immediately begin masturbating again, and come again in anywhere from 5 seconds to a minute. This second ejaculation is much smaller, but still something is produced, and the orgasm feeling itself is usually stronger.

Since I realized I could do this last year, I have been working on improving this skill so that I can have 2 or 3 of these "light" orgasms where I come after no longer touching my penis before I do the final one where I continue stroking all the way through. This final orgasm where I am continuing to touch myself puts me into the refractory period where I am unable to get hard again in a way that ejaculations where I am not touching myself do not.

Are these multiple orgasms, or is there some other name for it? Does anyone else do this? Can anyone think of any reason why I should not be doing this? I don't want to be doing something strange that might mess up my penis or my ability to have "normal" sex with other people. I have been having regular sex with other people during the year since I've discovered this without any change that I can detect.

Okay I am not an expert on male orgasm or masturbation, but it seems to me that even if you transfer this skill to sex with other people, even if it is not "normal," it will be appreciated.

This is pretty similar to what is called edging, although that seems to be defined by avoiding orgasm entirely. See also karezza/carezza and tantric sex.

Edging is holding off orgasm- this is different.

And utterly awesome. If I could do it every time I JO'ed I'd be a happy camper- but as it happens I've only managed it a few times, with and without my partner, m/ mutual JO. I call it a double orgasm but you can call it multiple, w/e, it is just an amazing experience and congrats!

So, uh, as a girl I can't totally relate, but I sort of can. Obviously I don't ejaculate but I know the feeling you speak of. When I have super special alone time I feel the same sensation if I stop just before climax- a mini-orgasm. Then it just kind of becomes a game to see how long I can do this before I can't really hold out anymore and have like, a waaaay better orgasm than I would have had if I'd just rocked my world the ol' fashioned way. I don't know what this is called, although I've learned that you fellas have a name for every conceivable sexual situation so I'm sure one exists but I am unaware.

Ultimately, I just want to say that I don't think it's weird or anything. I've been using this technique here and there for a long time and it hasn't affected me negatively in any noticable way. I can't think of a reason you shouldn't do this. In fact, I say try bringing your lady in on the action, too.

follow-up from the OP

Some Updates: Not that it is relevant, but I'm gay, so it's other dudes who I'm going to get to share this with and not women.

Billegible: I think this is something different than masturbating prior to hooking up in order to delay an orgasm. As far as I can tell, I'm not going into the refractory phase as it happens much too quickly. Something I can do 2 or 3 of these mini orgasms in the space of 3 or 4 minutes. Also, during that period, I'm much more sensitive.

selton: Thanks for the link! I don't have much experience with hetero porn, but it looked like this guy was doing exactly what I described. I didn't watch too many of the videos, but it seems like the site seemed to revolved around his ability to do this, so I don't know if this indicates that it is a particularly rare or special skill.

Although I've only ever done this by myself, I guess I should try it with other people, based on the comments that seem to appreciate such things.

Thanks for all of the information, although I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be a common term in use to describe this. Possibly it's "multiple orgasms", but I've often heard it said that men can't do that, which doesn't seem to be the case. If I were to mention to someone that I can have multiple orgasms, I'm not sure if they would understand what I mean. If anyone wants to take Blazecock's suggestion and translate "Twice in Two Minutes" into Latin, I would be happy to popularize it.

My multiple orgasm experience seems to be somewhat different from yours. There is a technique for controlling the time of orgasm/ejaculation that involves strengthening and contracting the (sorry, I don't remember the real name) "taint muscle." Kinda like wiggling your ears, it takes some practice to manipulate, but it gets easy. Doing this, one can eventually stave off orgasm indefinitely.

Eventually, after achieving quite a bit of control, there was a sweet spot, where I'd stop contracting the muscle *right* after the peak of difficulty in holding off, and experience an orgasm, sometimes without ejaculating. After this, at the next urge to orgasm, it was too hard to resist, and I'd orgasm and ejaculate normally. The advantage of this was that both orgasms were quite violent, maybe because i'd already gone through several urges to orgasm.

So I can confirm that this happens and can be channeled into non-solo sex. As testimony, my girlfriend at the time approved of this greatly and was quite proud of herself for her assistance.

Count me in with the "not that weird" votes. I don't know about health risks or any of that, but as other posters (surprisingly, mostly women!...gleeful, gleeful women, heh) have chimed in to say, it isn't all that rare. Count me in as another voice of, uh, experience on the female end with this unique but very welcome skill. It's best when you get to the point you can stretch them out for much longer than that minute or two...so you end up with 2 to 4 hour marathon bouts where you come like 3 or 4 times, once about every 30 minutes. Good good stuff. Ahem.
