hipster runoff: is this blog satirical?

Does anyone know if this Hipster Runoff blog is satirical

after I nearly passed out with laughter, not seen since the days of Brass Eye, at their 'Child Predator' post, I certainly hope so.

Best answer: To quote two guys in an old Simpsons episode:

Dude: Dude, are you being sarcastic?
Other Dude: (sigh) I don't even know any more.

Love that one about "contortedalts." That is funny as hell, and so true.

It seems like the latest hip thing to do, direct animosity at hipsters.

Not only is this satire, but it's the good satire.

It's that double-whammy satire where you suck in the people who are so full of themselves that they think it's real.

It's usually a safe bet that no one actually refers to themselves as a hipster. A hipster is only something someone else is.

I believe that was a Daria episode you were referring to, box (sniffs, stalks off to the Android Dungeon).

Sorry to derail further. Adamrice, box is correct. It was the episode with the Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill.

unfortunately i once briefly lived with two girls who were both hipsters. one girl spoke of hipsters with disdain but had bird and deer tattoos and only ever went out in williamsburg. the other actually called herself a hipster and was very proud of it; probably the best thing that could possibly happen in her life is if dov charney asked her to do an american apparel ad.

It is satirical, but it has a genuine love of hipsterish music and culture. But it knows how silly it sounds.

Yeah, it's satirical but in a loving way rather than in a critical way. I think there's a word for that.

This is some funny shit. I'm surprised this hasn't been posted on Metafilter yet.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted on Metafilter yet.

It's already been on AskMetafilter and MetaChat, so I wouldn't be surprised.

That American Apparel ad was spot on.
