I Wanna Do Bad Things With You

MusicFilter: Mrs. Billtron would like more music like the opening song from HBO's True Blood, "Bad Things" by Jace Everett. She likes the sound of Chris Isaak and Junior Brown, which are the closest things in our mp3 collection, but misses the spooky vampire and warewolve ambience of the theme song. Any suggestions? Suggestions should err on the side of New Orleans rather than Nashville, since she just got back from Louisiana and really misses it.

PS I am really enjoying reading Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale at the moment.

Haven't seen the show, but based on the link, I'd suggest the Wild at Heart soundtrack.

The first thing that comes to mind are two songs by The Cramps, Fever and What's Inside a Girl. Of course you could pick and choose through the catalogs of folks like Reverend Horton Heat or Southern Culture on the Skids for songs that matched this tone.

It doesn't quite have the same southern twang, but there's a lot of similarity with Morphine. Because, as we all know, vampires are just drug users with a sheen of literature.

Seconding the Morphine recommendation. I'd suggest Murder for the Money and Cure for the Pain in particular.

If yer looking for spooky undercurrent with a bit of a hard edge, you can't go wrong with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "Let Love In" album... particularly the tracks "Do You Love Me?" and "Red Right Hand". It's brilliant. In fact, I'm gonna go put that album on right now...

Wow, this is the first question I have ever posted that received more favorites than answers. Thanks to those of you who recommended things. Coincidentally (or perhaps not) HBO added a "music" section to the episode synopses on the True Blood website this morning.
