Record yahoo messenger?

How can I record audio from yahoo messenger? More inside.

I would like to record audio from yahoo messenger. YOu would think it could do it on it's on, but I can't seem to find anyway of doing that.

We're trying to start a call in talk show using yahoo. I tried the built in audio recorder but it would only record 1 side of the conversation. It only records the audio on the computer it's on.

Audacity doesn't seem to be able to do it either.

Am I missing something? Is there some setting in these programs so that I can record all the audio that goes through the chat room? Is it possible to do it on irc or some other program? It has to be a common program that can run under windows.

Can you use Skype? There are a number of apps that work with Skype and Audacity.

Total recorder.

Response by poster: Ok, I would have thought this was apparent, but I don't want to use anything I have to pay for or is a demo. Total Recorder plays a beep every minute unless you pay for it.

And I could use skype, but about a week ago they got rid of the ability to have chat rooms. It's all one on one now.

I think audacity can handle this, it's free. You have to select stereo mix or mono mix as an input to record whatever sound your sound card is processing.

Uh, Skype does multiple people calling, several podcasts I listen to use it. Just go to Call > Start Conference Call, then select your participants and click start.

Also, here's a super-detailed post from the Gamers With Jobs podcast about how they use Skype and Audacity.
