Hong Kong ? Cebu, Philippines. Cheaply? (More inside)

I need to get from Hong Kong to Cebu, Philippines as cheaply as possible. Both Cathay Pacific and Philippine Airlines are giving me about $400 - $500, even including a stopover in Manilla. Cebu Pacific used to used to have daily flight but a Hong Kong option is notably missing.

I know I could get to Manilla and then take a super-ferry, but I'm not terribly comfortable on boats of any size and 20-hours spent on a device of questionable upkeep doesn't settle with me.

Salamat!

Too bad, it seems Cebu Pacific stopped offering HKG flights. It looks like you'll have to layover in Manila, but see if Air Philippines can give you a decent Cebu flight from Manila.

I strongly recommend against Superferry or anything with the word "Sulpicio" in it if you value your good health.

(By "decent" I mean "cheap," and I forgot to close the "Superferry" link. Oops.)

Response by poster: Brownpau - thanks for the tip, I always get Philippine Air and Air Philippines mixed-up. 2200 pesos round trip from Manila to Cebu which, frankly, is not bad at all considering a similar fare even in the US would be at least US$100.

And I was in Cebu when that ferry accident happened... we had a dish from sky in our office, so I got to watch it live on CNN Intl.

You want cheap?

Become an Air Courier!

You could get there for free, if you're not picky at all. Or it might cost you a tiny bit of money.

Personally, I haven't done it myself, but I've looked into it, and it seems very interesting. Unfortunately, the only flights leaving near me end up going to London, which, for personal reasons, I'll not visit (again).
