No, really, they're not for keeping drugs

Where can I go in the Los Angeles area today or tomorrow to buy small glassine envelopes - say, 2 inches square or so?
I'm going to be unmounting some 35mm slides for cleaning and scanning and don't plan to mount them again, but I do want to store the film safely. I hit upon the idea of those little glassine wax-paper-like envelopes that are used by stamp collectors and drug dealers. The one stamp dealer I called didn't have small ones and couldn't recommend anyone who might have them.
The big office supply stores don't even know how to spell 'glassine' so I was hoping for a few ideas about where to look for them. Who else might be selling this kind of thing in quantity in Los Angeles? Or maybe another idea for cheaply storing the unmounted slide film?

If you can't find the glassine ones, you can get little plastic crack baggies (with zip top!) at any craft store in the bead section, by the 50-100 pack. I'm not sure if plastic is bad for unmounted slides, though.

Photography stores? I don't know what the major photography stores in LA are, but in NYC they are B&H and Adorama, and a search for 'glassine' on either website turns up lots of envelopes of the kind you want. Example.

Seconding the philately stores. Not that I know anything about where to find one in LA.
Apparently, the stamp-collecting store you called was for collectors of rubber stamps (I keeeed).

Are any Paper Source stores near you? They have them on their website, but I don't know if any of the CA stores are near you.

If you can wait a few days for them to erach you, Clearbags.com has bags for 35mm slide storage that hold 20 slides in a sheet. 25 to a pack, and you get quantity discounts if you need that many.
We've been very impressed with everything we've ever purchased from them.

They're not super cheap, but Print File probable have file storage pages for what you need. They're archival (which I'm not sure if glassine would be) and every decent camera store usually has a bunch of them.
