How can I tell IE6 to open new windows to the right but NOT also moving down at the same time?

I use IE6 (6.0.2800.1106) on three different identical Windows 2000 systems. I recently installed tabbed browsing on one (with no change to version number). On the non-tabbed systems, when I open a new window, the new window opens a quarter inch to the right of the previous window. On the tabbed system, new IE6 windows open a quarter inch to the right AND a quarter inch down from the previous window. I don't like this behavior, but can't figure out how to disable or correct it. This occurs only for new IE6 windows, not new windows in other applications.
How can I tell IE6 to open new windows to the right but NOT also moving down at the same time?
It's in the registry. It's called offset. Your tabbed windows provider reset this value. Give them a shout and ask what line in the registry was altered. It will kill your tabbed browsing however. Try using Firefox and you won't have this problem.

Internet explorer is a fist full of unpredictable behaviours.
ditto ptm
Safari, opera and firefox all support tabbed browsing, and all will run on win2k

I third switching to Firefox. If you have some application that absolutely requires IE, be sure to install the IE Tab extension.

Response by poster: OP posting: Thanks for the Safari, Opera, and Firefox suggestions. But I really do want to fix the IE6 problem, not jump ship. I really am QUITE satisfied with IE6.
Can anyone here tell me how to get back to the original state? Either by disabling or uninstalling the tabbed browsing option or by correcting the offset error mentioned above?

No, you are not satisfied with IE6, or you wouldn't have asked the question.
To get back to where you started, do exactly what ptm suggested. Then please, please do yourself a favor and try Firefox. Look, I used Netscape 4.72 for way too long, so I know about being comfortable with a browser and reluctant to change . . . but it's really time to move on from IE6. It's from a different era, and you shouldn't expect it to work properly on the Web of 2008.

Aside, though, you can't control this through any user setting.
