VaccumFilter: Looking for a source of Kirby vaccum bags [More Inside]

I have a Kirby Ultimate G (and I know that Kirby Vacuum Cleaners will suck the life out of you and your marriage - we bought it to help out my brother-in-law, but that's another story). I know I can call Kirby and order bags from them, but I'd like to know if there are "generic" bags I can get and use on that machine, or at least a reputable online source to order Kirby bags.

(A google search turns up a lot of sites selling bags, but who to trust?)

While I don't have an answer, I do suggest you stay away from contacting Kirby or any of its salespeople. I don't know your brother-in-law and I'm sure he's a fine person. I do, however, have an acquaintence who sold Kirby's door to door, and he recounted to me a myriad of sordid tales of the salesmenship skullduggery that he and others employed. They will be aggresive, they will be persistent, they may even be devious, and once they even get a hint that you could be a hot lead (as they will undoubtedly consider you) they will not take "no" for an answer.

Maybe I have an ancient model of Kirby - don't remember what it is - probably late 1960's-early 1970's vintage, but one of its features is that it didn't require bags! I suppose the newer models do?

Response by poster: Linsey: Yes, unfortunately.

ChasFile: Agreed on the skullduggery. We wouldn't have bought the unit if it wasn't the brother-in-law, and he needed the sale.

Response by poster: UPDATE: I ended up calling kirby directly and bought from them. Not the solution I was looking for, but at the same time I didn't have to speak with one of their door-to-door agents either.
