How to encode FLV on Mac w/ Open Source?

What's the best way to encode FLV (flash video) files on Mac OS X without Quick Time Pro? Is there a good open source Mac encoder? I've used Riva for Windows but can't find anything comparable for Mac.
Vixy has a downloadable app for OS X; it can also get YouTube videos online and convert them.

How fast is Visual Hub compared to, say, the Flash Video Encoder? How good is the quality? Anyone used both?

What about ffmpeg? It definitively can encode FLV and should run without a problem on MAC OS X. It is also open source.

I've always used ffmpeg on Windows and OS X. With a little bit of tweaking, it will do fabulous transcodes of almost any video format.

Visual Hub is just a good AppleScript GUI wrapping ffmpeg in the background. You can look at the logs to see how it's calling ffmpeg, but when I try to reproduce it on the command line, I can never get it to work. I am a BIG fan of Visual Hub. The video quality is great and the developer(s) are prompt. Just don't try to pirate a serial, it will catch you and do some pretty funny stuff =)
I have also created a Folder Action that uses Visual Hub to automatically convert any files I put in that folder into FLV. If you want it bad enough, I could probably dig it up (it's on an old backup of my newly installed system...)
