Any concerts I need to attend near Boston on 8/24?

I'll be in Cambridge, MA for a couple days of training at the end of August, and it occurred to me that there just might be a concert I'd be interested in seeing in such a far-away and exotic place. My musical taste is kind of difficult to categorize, but some favorites are Tommy Emmanuel, Alison Krauss, Rory Block, Gene Harris (no longer with us, but a good example nevertheless), Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Porcupine Tree, Nine Inch Nails. Does anybody know of any acts I might enjoy seeing on the 24th?
The Middle East (upstairs / downstairs / zuzu)
T. T. The Bear's
The Lizard Lounge
... are the good Cambridge venues for live music, off the top of my head. I don't know what you do but I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you'll be staying near Kendall square; all of these are very accessible by subway plus 2-10 minutes walk.

This might sound odd, but I would just go see whoever's playing at Passim -- Chris O'Brien, according to tatiana wishbone's link. I don't know who that guy is, but the people that play at Passim are usually folk/singer-songwriter/jazz types. I would trust in their taste.

The Middle East is always a good place to see a show in Cambridge, and according to the above link the bands Copeland, Goldenboy and the Rentals are playing there. Don't know if they will fit in with your tastes or not . . .

Terence Blanchard is playing 2 shows (7:30 and 10:00 p.m.) at The Regatta Bar at The Charles Hotel on Aug. 24. You could do way worse.

Do you have a last.fm account? If so, you can go to events under your dashboard and see concerts for bands you listen to in the upcoming months in any area.

Pat Metheny
BTW -- Pat Metheny lives in Cambridge, MA, but will unfortunately be touring in Italy when you are here.
