recommend a dentist in L.A. pls

(I did search and see the previous q, but none of those recommended were in my area)

I need to go to a dentist. I would prefer s/he is either near my home in Silverlake or work in Miracle Mile/Beverly Hills area.

I'd really prefer someone who isn't judgmental or lecture-y, but will help me fix what needs to be fixed and not try to sell me a bunch of stuff I don't need.

I had a bad experience in the past with a dentist who said "I need you to come back" and just started doing a ton of fillings without even going into detail on what she was doing that day, how long it would take, or how much it would cost. I'd rather not repeat that.

thanks a lot!

ps my insurance is Blue Shield

Sent you some info over AIM as well. Good luck!

Is there a reason you guys can't just post the answers here? Other LA residents (i.e., me) might need dentists in the future too. I'm sure they wouldn't mind the extra publicity.

Oh, and drjimmy11, previous question here. I set up my first appointment with Dr. Couch, but haven't tried him out yet.

Response by poster: fine by me if people post here.

and, as i said above, I did see the old q, but all of them were pretty far out of my area.

Dian M. Olah D.M.D.
9615 Brighton Way
Suite 222
Beverly Hills CA 90210
310-858-9212

She's great. Small practice, personal service and she's not jammed with patients so you're not being rushed out. Highly Recommended.

Ugh. That is frustrating. I am also in Silverlake and in need of a dentist.

Please post doc info in thread, if possible. Thanks!

Best answer: My beloved LA dentist. I miss him more than I can tell you. I have a massive fear of dentists, but he & I got along so well we even got into a water fight with the rinse hoses once. Good times.

I've been going to this father-son practice for 10 years & have been pleased with them. I've had mostly cleanings there, and a couple of fillings. My husband had a root canal and a couple of fillings as well. Don't know if they take Blue Shield.

Sorry about that. When I lived in LA I went to this Dentist. She was amazing, friendly and thorough. I wish I still lived there so I could still go to her.

I'm in Silver Lake, but I like Dr. Abe so much that I go to Pasadena:

Joseph Abe DDS
65 N Madison Ave
Pasadena, California 91101
(626) 795-3301
(Reviews on Insider Pages)

Some of the reviews mention that he's expensive; I don't know enough to say whether that's true, but I do know that he is definitely gentle and attentive. After I have any significant work done he seems to always call me a few days later to see how I'm doing.
