How did Alan Greenspan go from This gold standard lovin Randian, to the chairman of the federal reserve board?

What happened between the writting of that essay in 1966 and his tenure as the chairman?

What transpired during that chunk of time that caused him to flip flop?

has his philosophy changed? how? why?

Ive always wondered this.

Probably not the intended use of AskMe, and if you did some research and found some links, this might make a great FPP rather than a borderline Ask, but the short answer is that he sold out.

Now, now, q....what you may not know is that Greenspan was actually a touring, be-bopping, reefer-smokin' jazz musician through the 1940s.

(The part about the reefers? Pure conjecture.)
