SerendipityFilter: Great globs of text

I recently got posting rights to a group effort blog, which is running on Serendipity. I'm trying to post, and am not familiar with the software, but currently I have two problems. One: the preview window is only showing the eqavilent of the top left-hand corner of the would-be post, with no scroll bars. Second, it doesn't seem to recognize hard returns, so I end up with one big gob of text, instead of neat paragraphs. The guy with all the computron know-how is in Hungary, so I was hoping someone here can help. FWIW, I'm running OSX 10.3.9 and Firefox.

First is definitely a CSS problem, don't know if there's anything besides trying Safari, etc, to fix it.

The second - try two returns between paragraphs. Textile, Markdown, and the rest of the sort-of-between-html-and-text languages like two linebreaks to separate paragraphs.
