Gremlins in the Duct Work

Help me find a tv movie from the 70's or 80's that had gremlins in the ducts.

For years I've had a few images from a tv movie from the mid to late 70's, possibly early 80's stuck in my head. It involves a family living in a house that has gremlins, imps, or some sort of supernatural beings living in the ducts.

I remember the last scene involved one of the family member being taken away by the gremlins and camera started on the fact of a character sticking his head in and pulling away though the duct work.

Help be find this movie and bring peace to my troubled mind.

Could it be the Steven King thing with the cat? I remember the Gremlin-thingy stealing the young girl's breath. Cat's Eye?

Guess there's no ductwork there. The People Under The Stairs? But that's '91.

Crawlspace? It's got the ducts and it's '86 with 70s touches, but no gremlins.

House, '86

I think I remember this from an episode of Tales From the Darkside? I tried to follow an episode listing, but the kindly folks at Tales seemed to insist on titles that had little to do with the plot and vice versa.

Possibly Trilogy of Terror? I seem to remember the evil Zuni doll doing something like that, but it's been probably twenty years since I have watched it.

Response by poster: Good calls, but sadly no. I've seen the others and remember them (Trilogy of Terror is a favorite of mine).

I'm pretty sure this is pre-Tales from the Darkside and am almost certain it was a full movie.

Best answer: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and it was the ash disposal grate in the fireplace into which she was dragged.

Response by poster: The ending of it is one of those scenes that just stuck with me for years (albeit with a few details changed). Too bad there's not an official release...I'm going to set my Tivo to scan for the title in case it's shown on late night cable sometime.

It was released on video, but is now long out of print. Quality copies fetch good prices from collectors. I think that final scene stuck with a lot of people. It sure did with me.
