Seafood in Myrtle Beach

I have never wanted to go to Myrtle Beach, but when I saw the deal for a $18/rt fare...

In a couple weeks, my gf and I are going to Myrtle Beach. We are staying here. We will not have a car. Are there any good eating options for seafood around here? I have been searching many sites, but most good eats seem to be a bit of a hike (without a car), overpriced (for the quality), or buffets. So, if anyone has any good restaurant recommendations that we can easily walk to or take a cheap cab ride/bus to, let me know. I prefer cheaper options, but am willing to pay the price if the quality of the food is worth it.

Best answer: I like any of the restaurants by Divine Dining Group. They are all owned locally and have a good range from extremely casual to sophisticated. The more higher end places are going to be a bit south of where you are in Surfside/Garden City/Murrell's Inlet. Never had reason to take a cab or public transit so I have no idea how cheap or easy it would be to get there. From the web site it does look like they have some items in Myrtle Beach proper.

Also the Myrtle Beach Newspaper's Visitors Guide has a section where you can ask questions about MB and hopefully get a sane answer...kinda like a hyperlocal AskMefi.

Oh Question #49,999!

I know you said you wanted something within walking distance, but you may want to consider looking into getting a car while you're there. I used to go to MB several times a year for over 20 years until last year, and I can't even imagine what it would have been like without a car. With the exception of the one major entertainment complex near our condo and the beach itself (beachfront), we had to drive everywhere. Unless you're strictly sticking to the beach, I think you might find it a bit tricky and may want to consider renting a car.

I haven't been in years, but remember Marina Raw Bar as being good; however it's 12 miles from your hotel. Maybe the hotel has a recommendation?

Here's a Google Maps of your hotel and local seafood places.

Sorry for recommending something against your intended plans, but I think you will enjoy MB more with a car and have better luck with a restaurant.

Response by poster: Thanks for the tips (even the rental car rec.). I will check out visitor's guide board linked above, and, hopefully we can figure out a few good things to do without a car since I would rather spend our limited funds on food and drinks.

Response by poster: Okay, after more research (and the linked google map showing almost no seafood in walking distance), I decided to rent a car. I got one for $15 a day! Thanks!
