Guide for watching election results come in

Is there a good guide online for how to watch and interpret the election results come in? Not so much where to watch the returns on TV, but more so things like what time all the state's polls close, which states and races are "ones to watch," bellwether results that may indicate how the election is going, or any other interesting stuff to look out for. Bonus points if there's a PDF I can fill out as the night rolls on, like a baseball scorecard!

Best answer: Bolts is my go-to for this sort of thing; here's their 2024 guide. They also made a cool PDF.

Best answer: Here are a few I've come across:

- FiveThirtyEight: When Will We Know 2024 Election Results? (history of how quickly votes got counted in the past, and some commentary on what to expect this year), How To Tell Who's On Track To Win On Election Night (results needed in each county for a candidate to win statewide)

- New York Times: When to Expect Results in Each State on Election Night, and Beyond

- a simple list of poll closing times, with a map, from 270 To Win.

Check out this image Jamelle Bouie shared on Bluesky of when the Harris team expect results.

Al Jazeera has an hourly guide.

I’m going to be looking at NC and FL—a win in the former, or a closer-than-expected result in the latter, will be good signs for the Harris campaign.

I thought this guide from Slate was pretty good.
