What's new in the work from home arena?

Essentially, I need to figure out a work from home job that is super flexible. I'm already signed up for Data Annotation. What else should I look into?

I am currently an artist who sells at fairs and markets and I've been doing well so I've been slow to set up online. Recently I've been injured, and I realize that I won't be able to do the markets for a while and need an income. I am getting set up online, but realistically, that takes time and I need something a little more regular until I get that all working.

I'm looking for something I can do on my own time throughout the day either on the computer or phone. I'd prefer to be an employee or contractor since I will already be working on my own business. I know this is a unicorn, but I know people who are doing all sorts of things from user testing to invoicing and making good money. BUT, they lucked into those positions, so don't really have any advice on how to get a job like that.

Like a million other people, I have lots of education, a fast learner, responsible, and decent with people. I have an MBA with IT systems focus and have worked corporate jobs in the past. My personal life requires me to be very flexible with my time right now, and that is a challenge.

Where do I look for these types of opportunities in 2024?

Maybe upper level online help desk jobs for a place like ADT or some other company with complicated tech that people need to troubleshoot? The online chat ones tends to have somewhat flexible hours as far as I understand it. I'd go directly to the company website, as job boards and Linked In are full of fake jobs these days.

I highly recommend you go to r/Scams on Reddit and watch the job scams go by for a while, it will make you aware if you run into one. MOST remote jobs advertised online right now are scams. Especially watch out for anything that says "Optimization" or "Data Entry" or "Remote Personal Assistant."

Otherwise I'd look for very specific jobs you're qualified for and look for ones that will consider remote applicants.
