I'm exploring solo prostate play and trying to correctly use a toy

I'm a cis guy exploring prostate stimulation play solo. I have a toy that I'm not sure I know how to use correctly. I'll put the rest inside to avoid NSFW content on the main page.

I have this plug. It's curved. I'm unclear which direction the curve should go. Having the curve point toward the front of my body seems like it'd aim more at the prostate itself. But curving "backwards" toward my back seems like it'd be more aligned with the natural path of the rectum. Which is the correct or "intended" way to use a toy like this?

This feels crazy to ask but I've been googling around for like an hour and can't find anybody giving me a really clear answer.
For what it's worth, I have a disability that affects my arm and hand mobility which will prevent me from getting fingers inside, so all the guidance I've seen in forums along the lines of "go find it with your fingers" are just not helpful. This doesn't prevent toy use, which is also why I specifically got a vibrating toy I can use hands-free. I'm mainly including this information to focus replies on "I really just want to know the answer to this super specific question."

I, as a fellow cis guy, would say with absolute certainty that the curve should point toward the "front of your body" - with the usual caveats that everyone's body is different and there are no 100% right answers in this arena and the real actual answer is really "whatever feels best, baby"

If you imagine the curved you as either “points up” (the ends of the device pointing up, the center of the curve going down between them) or “points down” (the ends are low, the curve is arching up between them like a jumping dolphin):

For most people, if you are lying on your back, you would want the toy “points up”.

If you’re standing up or lying on your stomach, “points down”.

YMMV.

+1 to the advice of whatever feels comfortable and fun for you is probably the best. But in terms of a specific answer, you want the "point" of the toy facing towards the front of your body, pressing against the prostate. Your rectum is flexible and accommodating, it won't be a problem to deal with this kind of toy. It might feel intense at first, so just go slow and let yourself get used to it and have fun!

Agreed, it should point towards your belly button. Hope you enjoy it! It's sometimes hit or miss to find a toy that hits just the right spot, but even pretty close can feel great.

I teach the rectal exam to healthcare students. If the patient were on their back, I'd describe the likely insertion pathway as "first slightly downward, then up, following the path of the tissues" while slowly making a hooking hand motion to demonstrate. For you, I'd suggest plenty of lubricant and inserting with it initially pointed directly into the anus (i.e. the front of the curve is probably touching the skin behind your scrotum) with the "handle" towards your scrotum, and then really focusing on letting that tip guide you. If it's not too overwhelming, it might help to close your eyes to focus on what you can sense. It'll probably point first towards(-ish) the back like you're thinking but then settle pointing forward once fully inserted.

Porn sites have many vids of folks using butt plugs.

Oh yeah, it is for sure designed to point toward your prostate. Enjoy!
