My Windows laptop touch pad is not working at all?

Hi all, I think I may have spilt some water on my Dell Windows 11 Laptop touchpad last week, and it is not working (using an external mouse).

I tried reinstalling the touchpad in the device manager and updating the drivers to no avail, but nothing. Is there anything else I can do to fix it or bring it in somewhere, or should I simply purchase a new laptop?

I'd bring it in somewhere to get fixed.

Is the laptop still under warranty? You can go to dell.com and enter the service tag to check. If it is you can place a service request to get a new part shipped out to you. It's an easy part to replace.

just on the off-chance that it's something easy: on my laptop, I sometimes accidentally hit the function key that turns off the touchpad. The icons make no sense to me, but maybe like F3 or F9 or something like that turns the touchpad on or off?

If it's not still under warranty, I had a Toshiba once where the trackpad would stop working if it got wet, even if it was just moisture on my finger after washing my hands. To get it working again I would have to take off the back cover (after removing the battery!) and physically unplug and then plug the touchpad back in. Don't do this if you're not comfortable with electronics.

My touchscreen stopped workinkg this morning, who knows why.

Tried the update driver route to no avail.

What worked was go device manager right click on touchscreen display.
Then select disable.
Say yes to the warning popup.
Then right click again on touchcreen display and then choose enable.
Stared working right away, didn't even have to reboot.
Who knows why.

Maybe try that for your touchpad,
Sinple enough to try.
