How to hide a bunch of Discord channels

I'm a Discord beginner. Is there an easy way to hide the dozens of channels I'm not interested in without going into each one and muting it?

The server I'm interested in has dozens of channels in eight groups (or whatever you call the super-channel headers that have the open/close carets). I'm only interested in a few channels. One is in one group and the rest are in another. Is there an easy way to hide the rest of them, and/or at least to do so on the level of the group (or super-channel or whatever it's actually called)?

I'm on iOS.

Best answer: Discord calls those groups categories. You can mute a whole category, by long-tapping on the name, though I don't think you can then go and unmute individual channels within it, so that's only useful for categories that have nothing of interest at all.

Response by poster: Long-press! This is the capability I was missing. Thank you!

There's a new thing beyond muting called "following". This was slowly rolled out so I don't know if all servers have it, but at the top of your channel list there might be an option called "Channels & Roles". It'd but under the invite button and next to Server Guide and Events.

That will either get you to an "All Channels" screen, or open a window where you can switch to that tab. From here you can check or uncheck categories and individual channels to remove them entirely.

Response by poster: Hmm, mine must be lagging in that rollout, as I don’t see that option. Sounds like a useful improvement, though.

Note that there are normal discord servers and "Community-enabled" discord servers, and they have different features and capabilities, and I believe what Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug is describing likely only applies to Community servers.
