Feels like I’m wearing… nothing at all! Nothing at all! Nothing at all!

Looking for clothing that passes the Stupid Sexy Flanders test. Any type of clothing, as long as it can barely be felt on your body. What are your favourite articles of clothing that feel as little like wearing clothing as possible?

Jinbei "trousers" (sorry, I don't know the technical term) are designed to somewhat stand off from the skin and the seams can be sewn loosely. Cotton rather than hemp for maximum sense of intangibility, of course.

Sundresses, preferably sundresses without smocking in the back.

Anything made of cotton lawn or voile. Liberty's Tana Lawn line is lovely if you can afford/find clothing made from it.

For me? It's a massively oversized 100% flannel shirt.

100% cotton is a word I missed

Sleepware count? Negative underwear has slips that feel like NOTHING. It’s amazing.

Caftans, but it can be something of an adventure finding the shape that really suits you. I have had hit-or-miss results from Silkandmore - the mumul cotton caftans with the butterfly short sleeves and a lower neckline are my favorites, and not too-too long (enough to cover maybe halfway down my thighs when I sit is about as long as I like). My actual favorite is this somewhat frumpy housecoat (with added pockets). This one is almost longer than I want (she will hem them shorter than the stated length, for a modest extra fee) but the fabric is as gorgeous as the photo. This is almost perfect but the tabs on that neck poke at my collarbones and throat and I keep meaning to cut them off or tack them down.

That mumul cotton is ethereal, though. When it's too hot for me to stand wearing anything else, especially if it's nasty humid, it's all I want.

Pants may not be in your realm of "nothing" - I like the coverage. I like Avenue's pajama pants - the cotton-viscose ones - so much that early in the pandemic they had a sale where they were all $8-10 and I bought 14 pairs.

I have several caftans from Anokhi USA. They're not cheap, but the fabric is beautiful and becomes just whisper-soft with repeated washing.

I have this feather-light silk dress that feels like you’re wearing just moonlight and lipstick.

My favourite summer wear when it's too hot for clothes but I need to cover my flabby body is microfibre t-shirts. As long as they fit well and don't flap around, they literally feel like wearing nothing. You can spend a lot of money on these, but I buy the cheap ones from K-Mart and they feel just as good and last forever.

Home or elsewhere? I am a huge fan of silk robes and things made from Sahri silk which have a magical ability to never be hot but also when the breeze cools too much, they keep you warm.

Unfortunately, these are not really for out-and-about.

Stunned that anyone is saying cotton.

You want the Dream Weight Merino T shirts from Outlier or high quality linen.

I love oversized T shirts, but one thing I find is that if the neck is too big, then it slips past my shoulders and negates that "nothing at all" feeling. Something to consider.

I bought a life-changing pair of cupro trousers last summer. I don't know if the pants are magic or the fabric is, but right now I'm crediting the cupro. It's lighter than cotton and cooler than silk. You can presumably find something a little skimpier to wear inside the house, but if you want to be presentable in public you might try clothes made out of cupro.

nthing loose fit, 100% cotton or linen clothing. Look for brushed/combed cotton, cotton gauze or cotton voile specifically

Nylon tricot nightgowns from Miss Elaine. The ones with a yoke that go from sleeve to sleeve horizontally are superior to the ones with u-shaped yokes, which look more matronly. (All of their nightgowns look vintage but the robes they sell are mostly frumpy, going very far into housecoat territory, and don't even really match the gowns in style or fabric.) Light, silky, stretchy, not sweaty. I sleep hot, so I wear these year round; in the summer I might wear one all day if I have nowhere to be (which is typical because I'm disabled).

Shadowline sells some similar gowns (and much more attractive matching robes!) but uses relatively scratchy lace.

Guy here, but Lululemon's gym shorts are this, and they sell a few that don't *look* quite like gym shorts.

Their color selection is janky and feels like some alternate dimension influenced by LL Bean of the 1990s, but uh, yeah, they're comfy enough I bought a second pair.
