Holiday location & rentals in NE Germany

We're looking for interesting places to stay in Mecklenburg Vorpommern for a week in early July.

we're thinking coast but maybe could be persuaded into something interesting inland. Houseboats are a maybe. Would also be interested to hear about possible historical buildings we could rent. Are there any locations that might make good bases for trips, etc? We enjoy cycling and walks in nature, food, visits to historic sites.

Best answer: I think you should look into Greifswald. Before the pandemic i had plans to visit friends who lived there. The trip never happened and now my friends moved but i think that it would be a great place for a holiday, because of the sea, the Bodden and also historic town.

Best answer: Stayed in Stralsund for a night and was a nice medieval town. Drove out to the island Ruegen and that is very pretty and has the longest building in the world

Binz and some of the other resort towns are very pretty and kind of like they are from the 1900s.

We got the train to Stralsund and then rented a car share from there to explore Ruegen
