I find this Twix commercial with the two chickens ridiculously funny. The last line "So embarrassing!" is the clincher! What accent is that?

Best answer: Something from the North-East of England: Newcastle-upon-Tyne or thereabouts. Look up 'Geordie' accents. Someone with local knowledge could doubtless place it more specifically.

Best answer: Search "Sarah Millican" on YouTube, for large quantities of mildly embarrassing anecdotes in a very similar dialect!

Best answer: To second misteraitch, my friend born and bred in Washington, Tyne & Wear, has this accent precisely. Washington is a little south of Newcastle.

Best answer: To me they sound like very much like Georgia and Abbie from Gogglebox, and maybe Gina McKee, who are all from Durham/Country Durham or thereabouts (which is in NE England as misteraitch says, just south of Newcastle).

Though GMcK's accent has softened over the years and hard to find a clip with her sounding the way she does in my head. But it was the way she sounds in my head that made me go and look up where she was from, and turns out it's the same place as Georgia and Abbie so I reckon it's likely around there.

Best answer: That's a Sunderland accent also known as Mackem, here's an example.

Best answer: I'm not familiar enough with local accents to be that specific about the place, but yes the NE of England. If it's not that very specific/hyperlocal (softer to my ears) version that you like then anyone described generically as Geordie or from Co Durham, Tyneside, Newcastle, Sunderland or Northumberland may sound similar to you. Sarah Millican is an excellent shout for a comedian who sounds similar, another one is Chris Ramsey. Both are from South Shields, which is near Newcastle.
