Is my Forerunner 245 Music a lemon?

I have never been able to get this watch to receive notifications. Found the screen but cannot change Notifications not during activities from No to Yes.

I have searched everywhere and all I can find is Select the a notification preference. It is on No and I have pressed all 5 buttons to try to change it to yes and nothing seems to work. It must be simple because no one has been able to say exactly how to do that. There are only 5 buttons to use. WTF?? I have had this watch for months and use it for other things but really wanted the notification feature too. I get frustrated and stop looking for the answer then come back and search.

Anyone have a clue? Or did I get a defective Forerunner and now it is too late to return?

I am assuming you *have* paired the phone successfully through the smartphone app?

If you have streamed music off of it then I don't know what's wrong...

Best answer: Maybe a silly question, but have you checked your phone/do you get push notifications for the apps you're wanting to see on your watch?

Looking at mine and following these instructions, going from holding UP > Phone > Smart notifications, I can toggle the first "status on/off" switch with the START/STOP button. Then going to "Not during activity", I can go down to "Show all " (using the UP/DOWN button) to select that.

Did you give the Garmin Connect app permissions to share your notifications with your watch? You didn't specify what kind of phone you have.

I don’t have Garmin anymore but I think this is controlled on the phone by either the app or phone settings.

The permissions to send notifications are set up via the Garmin Connect app on your phone.

Go to Settings > Notifications > App Notifications

Response by poster: Yes I have paired, yes I have push notifications yes to all your instructions. The one thing I cannot do is toggle from no to notifications on watch to yes. In the app I have notifications should be sent. I am paired but watch still says no on notifications. So the user who says he pushes the start/ stop button to toggle says to me I have a defective watch because mine will not change from no to yes.
Thanks for the help. I’m screwed.

Is your watch still under warranty? You've said you have had it for months, so that might be worth checking out.

Non-aviation products are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase.
