Just got a Garmin nüvi 1450. Garmin will let me download voices for it. Some of these are amusing, but are there other sources for voices beside the official Garmin Store? I'm willing to consider both free and paid voice packs if they're out there.

You may already be aware of this, but if you're unsuccessful at finding alternative voices, Garmin Voice Studio will allow you to create your own directional prompts in whatever voices you can imitate.
