Looking for music discussion

I'm looking for either a mailing list or forum for music discussion.

Requirements:

a) I'm interested primarily in (first and second wave) alt.country and older music (1920s-1960s).
b) I have a dangerously low tolerance for hipper-than-thou and "indie rock" stopped being interesting to me around the turn of the century.

Help me!

miles of music is where you need to go. there's a mailing list you can get on, a blog you can read, reviews, etc. All kinds of roots-alt.country- y'allternative-no-depression-whatever you want to call it, plus lots of classic country reissues and such.

also - and this may be obvious - the nodepression magazine website has some great stuff, and a few relevant blogs and browsable back issues of the magazine, etc.

Whatever you do, stay the hell away from I Love Music.

Heh. ILM's Rolling Country Thread is pretty great, actually.
Go for No Depression. I don't know if it's still a functional board on AOL, but that's where it all started.

Response by poster: What about for non-alt-country discussion of music from the 20s through the 60s?

Keswick— A lot of people moved into Alt.Country (which, if you have newsgroup access, still might be worth looking into) because of their love of older country and roots music. I can recomment several excellent radio shows too, if you'd like. And ILM does a pretty decent job of segregating hipster wank from people who really care about the music.

(I'll email the couple of guys that I know who do fantastic '20s-'60s country shows and see if I can turn anything up for you.)

At times, but his restatement of the question leads me to believe that it wouldn't be content-rich enough in the sort of music he's after to make it worth the investigation.

While it does cover indie rock as well, [self link alert but it's related] openingbands.com has forums with a lot of knowledgable folks who could probably suggest and discuss plenty of alt.country bands...

It's by no means alt.country focused, but I see it mentioned there plenty, and I know there's people into it who read... why not sign up and make a post?
