Help me find this funny "Adequate" essay!

Years ago I read an essay in which the author responding to a performance review where they are assessed as adequate. The twist/humor in the piece is the author is quite pleased with this dull assessment and spins it positively. It was very well executed and pops into my head often. I'd love to re-read it.

It's been quite a while and it's possible this wasn't an essay at all, but was rather a comic. I could almost see Opus from Bloom County doing this.

This was a B-plot on an old episode of Newsradio with Phil Hartman. Here's a 2-minute youtube compilation from the episode. Not sure if this is what you were looking for but seems like a possibility!

Response by poster: That is hilarious and spot on, but not the piece I was thinking of. Phil Hartman was a treasure.
