Help me settle a bet. What's the logo on Natalie Portman's sweatshirt in her rap video from Saturday Night Live? I say it's the Rebel Alliance but my friend says it's Webelow.
i vote neither, too. the top doesn't look like the rebel alliance and it isn't enough like a husk of corn for webelos.

Best answer: Not WEBELOS (that would be a corn stalk), but it does look like an upside-down fleur-de-lis.

Yup Gator got it. It's a bad one, but it is an inverted Fleur-de-lis.
Kinda like an inverted cross for haters of the french I suppose.

that is not the fleur de lis you are looking for...
(really, that is totally *not* an inverted fleur de lis)

Seriously -- Gator gets the win because she settled the bet, but that's not an inverted fleur de lis.

Yeah, I grew up in Louisiana. That's not a fleur-des-lis.

Best answer: It is an inverted Fleur-de-lis.
1) camcgee's screenshot
2) The screenshot flipped, inverted, and contrast pushed way up.
3) A fleur-de-lis.
It looks a little stylized, but, that's it.

Yeah, it's angular and solid, as opposed to ornate and flowery the way we're used to seeing it, but the basic shape appears to be the same.

Now I wonder, what does La Portman have against the French? ;)

I think Natalie's pissed off at the French because of the trade embargo against Naboo... no, wait.

I agree. A fleur-de-lis, and maybe a shout out to New Orleans via their football team?

This thread has completely disappointed me. That shape on Natalie's shirt -- yeah, it resembles an upside down fleur de lis, but it also resembles a small bird flying out of a larger bird's ass, thankyouverymuch -- represents something. It's somebody's logo, trademark or signature design. I, for one, am still interested in knowing whose.

Response by poster: At the very least there are a few people who will subconsciously be on the lookout and will (hopefully) come back to this thread when they see the symbol in the wild.
