Replacement for Google News Android App

I'm giving up on the increasingly useless Google news app. It insists I love football. I do not. Is there a customisable news app for Android that doesn't actively hate me?

Best answer: I've used Flipboard for some time and I love it. You can customize it with feeds from various news sources as well as from topics you want to follow. You can also connect it to social media accounts like Twitter if you have them.

Do you downvote stuff you dislike? I finally got Google News to stop showing me astrological junk by doing that. Also, have you gone into the customization and removed everything you don't like? And added many things you do like? That seems to work well for me. I tried Flipboard and Microsoft News but went back to Google News, in part because those other apps had far fewer sources, abbreviated headlines too much (often to the point that it was impossible to get the gist), and were even worse about showing me stuff I didn't want to see.

Response by poster: I have tried those things and all that happens is that instead of getting sports news from the nyt it decides to get exactly the same sports news from the Toledo Tribune or something.
