What is this mystery song residing in my head?

I heard a jazz performer at the mall playing a melody that sounded super familiar, and noticed some other nearby people react positively to it too, so I think it must be something relatively classic and well-known. All I have now is a vague sketch from memory: https://instaud.io/3xpl, 00:10-00:20 is the recognizable part. That melodic phrase is quite tender and poignant. Sorry I don't have much else other than this fragment to go on, but if anyone can ID it that would really help clear things up!
A tiny bit like The Way We Were, though I would be surprised if that's it.

Best answer: It’s a bit like a downtempo jazzy riff on Heart and Soul, or at least it has a lot of the same intervals in the same order. Also has some resemblance to Beyond the Sea . These are both ultra classics and well known, so easy fodder for mall jazz.

I see now Beyond the Sea took its music straight from La Mer! So that’s the original work.

Django Reinhardt recorded "Beyond The Sea" back in the 1940s or thereabouts. Learn something new every day here on Metafilter! I didn't know that "Beyond The Sea" was derived from Trenet's "La Mer". Thanks lokta and SaltySalticid!

Best answer: Just adding to the pile that I clearly heard somewhere beyond the sea.

Response by poster: Thanks for all the suggestions! Most of the names are unfamiliar to me so I shall look them up on YouTube when I have a minute.
