what juicer is for me

recommend a juicer

Mainly I want a citrus juicer, but I would look at fancier juice extractor that has a citrus attachment. I currently have a very simple citrus juicer, but it creates very pulpy juice that I need to run through a strainer. So main thing I want is a juicer that lets me control the pulp. Other than that, looking for durability, ease of clean up, and value. Durability is important as I make a lot of juice. Price range 100-200.

L'Euip makes a good straight citrus juicer in that price range. However, if you're into juice, I'd recommend increasing your budget and getting a full-on juicer that'll do just about anything. Nothing like fresh carrot juice or apple juice.

If you can afford it, go for a Champion. It'll make just about any juice and can also make nut butters, ice cream, and other things.

After my Vitamix, the Champion is my most used appliance (yes, ahead of my stove and microwave).

A good friend loaned me this Breville model of hers some time back, and I was extremely impressed. It could definitely juice the bejebus out of whatever you fed it. Pulp was never a problem--it was routed all to a container.

For my own uses, it confirmed that it was more of a kitchen toy than an appliance I'd use often, though. If it was something I'd get more use of (or had more space for), I'd likely spring for that same model, though.

In my opinion, the Breville's are not very efficient. Yeah, they separate the pulp and the juice but they make an extremely wet pulp, which means that there's still juice in there that you're essentially wasting.

In addition, Breville has an absolutely terrible reputation for service. If it breaks, good luck getting it fixed.

Also, Breville makes a pt of saying that their machines are X RPM... if you do research you'll find that the best juicers (which are usually masticating juicers as opposed to the Breville, which is a centrifugal juicer) move slowly, taking their time to extract as much juice as possible.

If you are going to go with a centrifugal juicer, I again would recommend a L'Equip. Their service is excellent. They'll overnight you a part if it breaks, hassle-free. My first juicer was one of theirs and I dropped the bowl and it chipped where the lock would seal. One call and I had the part in a day--didn't even ask for a proof of purchase. That said, as someone who makes a lot of juice, I recommend you avoid centrifugal machines if possible.
