What was your favorite tour guide/tour company for the Colosseum/Rome?

Going to Rome the first week of April and feeling a bit lost with the tour guide and tour company options.

Looking for a tour guide rec for the Colosseum specifically. Have checked trip advisor and AirBNB experiences. Our first time in Rome. We'll be staying near the Vatican. Thanks!

We just used the Rick Steves audio guides. It's cheap, and we could take things at our own pace, rather than following along with a group.

I booked one of their English group tours including the areas you can only visit on a tour. It was fabulous. We booked one early in the morning to reduce crowds and (since it was January) the sun was just rising over the walls.

We took this tour last August. Included a tour of the Roman Forum, we took the small group tour, there was 10 of us, and it was fantastic.

We did this tour with Context Tours, which was great. Especially great for skipping the line. We did the Ostia Antiqua tour, too, which was even better. (My in-laws paid. I had no idea they were that expensive! But totally worth it.)
