Is the painful scar treatment that Neve Campbell's character, "Bonnie," receives a real thing? The needles and the poking?

Best answer: It's been awhile since I saw the scene, but I think she was having the movie version of "skin needling." Skin needling is used to treat scarring from burns and acne.
