Can anyone identify the musical instrument being played at the 4:11 mark in this video? It's hard to get a good look and my random Googles are not cutting it. YouTube link
Bamboo sax? It's the angled mouthpiece that looks similar.
Tenor bamboo sax.

/Not sure about the tenor bamboo sax as the sound example on my second link sounds more like a traditional sax whereas the instrument in the video sounds more ... airy and ethereal, like a pan flute.

It's not a bass recorder - those are larger and have a curved neck, either like a saxophone neck or a bassoon's bocal.

Best answer: My SO thinks that it's a Native American flute.

Best answer: Here's another video of some guy playing a big flute for horses that doesn't look identical, but sounds similar. I'm not sure if it's the same guy? The flute in the linked video is a Native American contra bass flute, so that'd be my guess.

Best answer: It's definitely a type of flute, not a sax or a recorder. (He's blowing over an open hole to make the sound, not into the instrument. And the object bound to the top end looks like the Native American flutes I've seen elsewhere.

Along the Native American Flute idea, it could very well be a specific handmade flute or specific to a region, not necessarily the US, either.

I also think it's a Native American flute of some kind, which unfortunately for your detective work is a pretty wide and unspecific category.
