What cool gift could I buy for my wife in Cartagena, Colombia

My lovely wife, myself and our 9yo will be in Cartagena, Colombia this February. While we're there, she will turn 40. Is there some birthday present, probably jewelry, that it would be worth it to buy for her in Cartagena?

She likes rings and earrings, mostly with a minimalist and/or pop aesthetic. Silver, steel, titanium, semi-precious or precious stones. Also colored resins and glass.

She's not into anything to handcrafty or earthy. Nothing you'd expect to get at a crafts fair.

Basically, I wonder if there's some cool, modern jewelry design in Cartagena I should look into, or something else that might fit the bill.

I believe that area is known for emeralds. You may want to do some research on naturally mined and "lab grown" if you go that route.

Came in to also mention emeralds.

If you can get a lead from someone there on a local jeweler rather than a chain, it's a great opportunity to support the local economy and shopkeepers there. If not, memail me and I'll happily ask around for you.

I have been there - the town is beautiful, make sure you walk the wall around the old town.

As for a gift, the coffee is good, but the emeralds are *gorgeous*. There are also gold artifacts that you could buy in jewellery stores, with Colombian motifs - but like mefites so far, I also recommend the emeralds.

Response by poster: Thanks for the answers. I'm looking into the emerald idea, but everything I can find online looks old fashioned and tacky, is there some place where they're doing something more modern with emeralds?

Are you looking at places like Lucy Jewelry? My Spanish is weak, but there are many tourist trap places, maybe memail the prior poster.

Response by poster: I finally didn't get her something in Cartagena. Most of the jewelry stores there turned out to be veeeeery touristy, and kitschy.
