Looking for a song title

This song is about a letter found in the glove compartment of a used car (maybe a chevrolet) The letter says something to the effect that "If you read this, I have died." Want to get this song as a Christmas present for my dad.

Could it be: David Ball, "Riding With Private Malone"?

"Riding with Private Malone" words here; performed by David Ball on Amigo (amazon link) or here (eMusic).

Are you committing suicide? Or is this some sort of inside reference you didn't explain to us?

It's not suicide. Private Malone stored the car before he went off to war. He never came back. The car got sold.

It's a touching song.

I dislike country, but I like that song. Thanks for asking this question... I had forgotten about it!

As this question's been answered, and I, too, am intrigued by the lyric, let me go off topic: How would you describe David Ball's music, or at least his sound on Amigo?

I was referring to the poster on suicide, not the song. If my son were to give me a gift about "I'm probably dead if you're reading this" I'd immediately think he was committing suicide or something similar, regardless of what the song was about.

Here are the lyrics (there may be music/popups), jlkr's link doesn't work.

I was concerned as well, vanoakenfold, until I read the lyrics.
