When was the Jeff Beck album "Wired" released on 8-track?

I’m writing a story that includes references to the Jeff Beck album “Wired” on 8-track. The story takes place during the summer of 1976 and although I’m confident the LP was released in May of that year, I’d like to confirm that the 8-track was also available in stores in the spring or early summer of that year.

Was it standard for the 8-track to be released at the same time as the vinyl back then? I was a vinyl buyer in the 70's, but never paid attention to 8-tracks. I've inquired via an 8-track collector website as well as a Jeff Beck fan site, but I'm not getting anywhere.

There's no day/month release date listed on the Discogs listing for the 8-track, but it was available in 1976.

Thanks, that helps. Just need to nail down the month.

Same here. I certainly don't recall 8-Tracks and LPs having different release dates. To my mind, they were released concurrently -- certainly within a few weeks of each other.

Best answer: I think you're in luck:

Wired, released May, 1976
-- All Music Guide

"By the late 1960s, the 8-track segment was the largest in the consumer electronics market . . . Within a year, prerecorded releases on eight-track began to arrive within a month of the vinyl release."

. . . and that's how I remember it, too.
