Please suggest Speaker for my vsx-45 pioneer

I have a VSX-45 pioneer elite audio receiver. I have Samsung 65' tv hooked up to a wall. I am looking for decent speaker system preferably 5.1 sorround. My budget is 300 more or less. Please suggest something.. The setup is in the basement about 18 feet tall x 10 feet wide. I am not looking for a greatest speakers in the market, just something decent with good surround and sound quality. I will be watching movies, play call of duty on xbox one on this. I have Harmon, Bose, JBL in my mind.

I've never listened to them, but the usual answer here seems to be the fancier 5.1 speakers from Monoprice, which are basically Energy Take 5's. They're under $300 and I think sometimes under $200.

$300 is a slim budget for a 5.1 surround speaker setup. New, Fluance may be your best bet. Used or slowly building a system look at these great budget direct speaker vendors. HTD or SVS.

Forgot to mention Parts Express. The have some decent bang for buck speakers and speaker kits.

Best answer: If you're willing to spend an extra $150 or so, the Pioneer SP-PK52FS bookshelf system is worth considering [website | review/review 2 | $439 on Amazon US). The included subwoofer will help expand the dynamic range, an issue with some sub-$500 systems. If you go with a system without a sub, the Dayton SUB-1000 is a worthwhile investment ($120).

JBL and Harmon Kardon are the same company. My warranty support experience for a subwoofer with a blown capacitor was very poor. I would avoid them, if possible.
