i basically want a butt-sweater

What kind of unusual loose-knit sweater tights are these? Photo (kind of NSFW).
Generally, but also specifically — I'd like to buy these exact ones if possible! I like the openwork pattern on the legs, but I'd be okay with it being a different but similarly open pattern. More importantly, the actual material around the hips is a soft loose knit that looks incredibly comfy and non-binding, almost like wearing cozy sleep shorts that just happen to have tights attached. Any suggestions where I could find something like this? Pointelle tights seemed to give me the closest match, but still, most of them either have tiny patterns all the way to the waistband, or something more like a control top or an elastic waistband.

I was just about to suggest looking around on Sock Dreams! I have a number of pairs of tights from there. The upper area on the tights in your photo aren't different from the legs, however -- the darkness is what she's wearing as underwear.

I have these merino crochet tights. If you select different colors and sizes, you'll see different views of the tights -- legs, waist, etc. I don't find them binding at all. They're also super fun to wear over other tights in solid colors.

I have some tights sort of like that from Nordstrom- I don't see the exact ones on their site, but these are similar. The pattern on mine go all the way up, but they're noticeably looser than other tights, maybe because of the weave. Very comfortable.

I've gotten some similar to those at Marshalls. I don't remember the brand, but I do remember they were Italian.

These are kind of similar, with solid construction in the bottom, though they aren't black.

That waistband is not sagging on its own. If you look closely the model is yanking the left side down with her thumb beneath the fabric, and that's what you might be reading as "incredibly comfy and non-binding."

I can personally vouch for the B.ella crochet tights, like these or these. Yes, the model in your photo is wearing boyshorts or briefs beneath, and ruching the waistband down a bit, but the tights are indeed very comfy and the top isn't binding.
