Best hoodie for running in 40* (NorCal winter) weather?

Inspired by a bunch of threads on Metafilter, I'm looking for a hoodie specifically for running, with all the specs of this one, but at a lower price point if possible.

$50 to $75 would be great, lower than $50 would be awesome. I am willing to sacrifice the Merino wool for another material if it lowers the price point. About me: I am very petite framed, thin and don't regulate temperature well. I freeze in weather less than 50*, it takes me about 10-15 minutes of hard running to warm up, then I'm sweating uncomfortably. I've been running in an off-brand fleece lined (first mistake) sweatshirt and it's not working for me.

You don't say where in NorCal you live, but if you're near a Big 5 Sporting Goods I recommend checking them out. They have great prices and are always having sales (and discounts via email).

I would avoid hoodies for running, to be honest. I have a few (Brooks, I think), and I never wear the hood. It just makes it too hot and gross.

Response by poster: @ Radioamy - Big 5 would be a good option, but I've tried big box stores. I'm very small and none of the brands at the big box stores fit, even in a size "small." I need to shop online for a smaller size, which might preclude me from a lower price point; it seems smaller sizes in general are only made by higher end companies.

@ Roomthreeseventeen - I'm specifically looking for a hood because I can take it off after I warm up without the added bulk and annoyance of bringing a hat.

OK, no more threadsitting.

This from Eddie Bauer? Comes in XS, hooded, and in your price range

How about this jacket from Lands End? It's available in XS Petite, and it's on sale. Could be a good way to try out this style before investing in something like wool.

If you don't like that, I'd suggest looking at 6pm.com for activewear brands on sale.

Best answer: If you don't mind the color, you can get that wool Icebreaker Quantum hoodie in an XS here.

Use the 35% off code from here, and you're really close to that $75 price point, delivered.

Response by poster: Mammoth, you read my mind! I had it in my STP shopping cart with another code that ended up being less than the one you linked too. So, thank you! I saved big time, and got what I wanted : ) It looks like the best option for petite folks looking for this type of thing.

I'd highly recommend you avoid polyester, as it can be difficult to impossible to remove stink from them . I'm trying a salt water soak on my gym clothes right now, which may or may not work, so learn from my mistake.
