Which movie used "Lent" as it's soundtrack.

Any Satie fans out there? What movie is this music from? I just purchases this Satie CD, and I know I've heard it in a movie somewhere and it's driving me crazy...

Specifically, track 4, no. 1 ("Lent") of the Six Gnossiennes.

I think it's in a lot of movies, but I especially recall Satie in My Dinner with Andre.

Violent Cop had an electronic version of it. Mostly played when Takeshi is walking around.

According to IMDb, Satie's Gnossiennes were used in About Schmidt, Chocolat, and Kieslowski's Blue, which is what it reminds me of.

That specific track is credited in (Beat) Takeshi Kitano's directorial debut, Violent Cop.

The Satie in My Dinner with Andre (ending credits) is Gymnopédie No. 1, not Gnossienne No. 1.

Gymnopedie #1 in my favorite performance (Aldo Ciccolini) is in Royal Tannenbaums as well.

There's "fake" Satie-like music in many films, including Peter Sellers' Being There.

I recall hearing Satie in an Australian movie from the 1970s but can't confirm through searching. I don't think it was that particular track though, sorry.

Best answer: The Gnossiennes are used quite a bit as background/thematic music in This American Life episodes.
