Running shoes without laces

Can anyone recommend some running shoes with no laces that don't need to be fitted in a running shop? Ideally they should be buyable in London tomorrow, or able to be delivered in the UK quite quickly.

Asking this for a friend. She's been admitted to hospital and is currently on suicide watch. They have removed all her laces, but there is a gym on site that she would like to maybe use when she's allowed some unsupervised time. She's not a very serious runner but has been doing some running in the last week in an attempt to elevate her mood and would like to keep this up. She's been running in Vivo Barefoot shoes, but without laces they are going to fall off. Have considered Vibrams, but they seem like they would need to be tried on. Ideally the shoes would not be pink.

Some possibilities on this page on the Run And Become site - they have a branch in London - or they can deliver online

Is Merrell available in the UK? I had a good pair that cinched snugly and quickly.

My girlfriend has been a big fan of Salomon's trail running shoes. They fit her narrow feet, so I'm hoping sizing isn't an issue, and they don't have a traditional lace. They cinch up, the 'lace' isn't very long and it's hard to cut. It's is a loop which would have to be cut to remove from the shoe.

I don't know if this would meet the facilities requirements. Either way having done similar shopping for similar reasons I truly hope that your friend finds some peace and that you are ok. Best of luck.

I thought of Salomon's too, but they technically do still have laces, so I'm not sure they would work. Here are some options available on Amazon UK that are actually designed for recovery running (?), but seem like they might fit the bill: K SWISS Blade Light Run Recover Ladies Running Shoes, 1, 2, 3.

Sorry, I didn't see below the fold. also, I was thinking of Salomons, not Merrells. I don't think thr lace on the Salomon would be allowed in your friend's situation. Check out Puma or Nike online, I think they both have a laceless version. Some pro track shoes also avoid laces but that might get expensive. This site shows men's mostly laceless shoes- most companies make an identical women's version. http://www.squidoo.com/best-running-shoes-without-laces

The other thing you could try would be cross-trainers meant for older folk: they often have velcro in place of laces.

Good luck to you and your friend.

I own the Saucony Hattori women's minimalist running shoe, with velcro instead of laces, that I like a lot. It comes in lots of colors. Size up at least 1/2 size because they tend to run on the small side.

I can't see why a pair FiveFingers would need to be tried on. Why I say that? Because I have a pair of FiveFingers which protrude a good 20mm back behind my heel, and they are still pretty good to use, just that the velcro tightening strap needs to be very tight, and gets pretty sore after you, err, run a half marathon without having even broken into a run in the previous 8 months.

So yes, a pair of FiveFingers would fit great. They're much less of a problem than more solid shoes re: fit. And yes, I've finally admitted to myself that I have size 6 feet, and that that's OK.

Maybe minimalist running sandals like this or this? I haven't run in anything like them myself, but they seem neat and like they'd fit the bill. (She should ramp up gradually if switching from regular shoes to any sort of minimal, like these, the vibrams, or Saucony Hattori. I recommend it, though, in the long run, and I think it makes for better running.)

ambrosen, I couldn't find a vibrams size that fit me, with a long time trying different models and sizes in the store, and eventually gave up---something odd about my toe lengths, perhaps. That may be unusual, but I'd at least do something you can return.

Salomon do a shoe that has no laces at all, but which has a robust sole.

Note: different to the linked examples upthread of integrated lace systems.

Thank you so much for the answers, guys. BoB asked this on my behalf and we ended up getting me a pair of Saucony Hattoris. I borrowed some bluetooth headphones from a friend and now I'm using the treadmill on my own! I think it's helping me sleep, and even though I'm still doing relatively short runs with some walking intervals, it just feels good to know there's something in me that isn't completely broken. They do come up tiny, though - we ordered a few pairs and I ended up going with the men's 7.5 (usually I'm a ladies six and a half).
