Help me make Beautiful Music with my computer.

What software for the Mac will let me import midi files and produce a full piano score for the song?

Many years ago, I had a software package that I thought was really helpful for helping me learn piano. I connected it to my keyboard from my PC. It was Windows software and it did the following:

Imported midi files and notated it in full sheet music.
Allowed for playback of the song through the keyboard

I am trying to find a Mac equivalent without much luck. I can do a track at a time with Garage Band, but it doesn’t seem to be able to produce full sheet music. I’d like to see the score for multiple tracks at once, and I can’t figure out how to do that.

I still have my keyboard and a midi-usb connector. Now I just need the right software. I’m a little overwhelmed by the choices I’m finding. Most seem geared toward music creation. Really, I just want to try to learn how to play a few songs I like.

Is there anything for the Mac out there in the world for me?

I bet you could do this in Apple Logic.

Best answer: MuseScore is free and cross-platform.

scruss' option looks like a winner. On second thought, Logic would definitely be overkill.

One minor thing I've found in playing with MuseScore: it has really poor version detection. I upgraded to the most recent version, loaded a score supposedly written by that version, and I'm stuck in a "You need to upgrade to load this score" loop. Annoying.
