Caterpillar Kids' Book

I saw these posters for sale and remembered from my childhood a book about caterpillars that had a very similar style.
It was not Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar but the writing was nearly the same style; it was written from the point of view of a caterpillar as it aged, pupated (definitely had the word "pupa" in there), and became a butterfly.
The lines of the artwork were very thick, filled with solid, drab colors.
