Music and theater in London

Looking for recommendations for live entertainment (theater and music specifically) while we're in London.
We'll be in London 5-14 October and I would like to catch some live music and see a show. I've looked over what will be playing theater-wise during that time, but I'm not very familiar with what's playing.
Theater: I am a big theater fan, girlfriend is less so. Comedies preferred, offbeat would be fine, not in the West End is also fine. Girlfriend loves Agatha Christie so The Matchbox may be on the list, but if there's something astounding out there right now we'll see that. My greatest regret last time I was in London was missing Patrick Stewart and Ian MacKellan in Godot if that helps at all.
Music: we really enjoyed going to jazz clubs in Madrid and would like to find a similar vibe. I love music from the British blues explosion, so maybe a blues club or some similar venue? Basically, after a long day walking around we want to sit, have a couple drinks, and listen to some relatively low key music. Not so much with the dance clubs and discotechs.
Thanks!
