Honky-Tonk workout?

What's your favorite honky-tonk song? Also...what's the key, if you know it? I want to make a "honky-tonk workout" similar to Steve Kaufman's bluegrass workout.

I've been using Steve Kaufman's Bluegrass Workout to learn the bass and the guitar (it's sheet music of dozens of songs with a CD so you can play along, practice your breaks and the like. I just chunk along.)

I'd like something similar for honky-tonk songs, but I don't believe such a thing exists. So I'm going to make my own. My first stab is Johnny Paycheck's "Motel Time Again," which the spouse tells me is in F# (playing along with Paycheck's version on ITunes).

Now I just need a list of all the best honky-tonk songs, so I can download 10 or a 100 or so and play along. If you know the key, even better. The chords I can probably figure out myself. Maybe.

Any thoughts?

Buck Owens, "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down" has no equal in the history of honky tonk music, except for pretty much everything else he ever recorded.

Heartache by the Numbers and just about anything else written by Harlan Howard. Speaking of numbers, if you learn the Nashville Number System, your task will be much easier!

Response by poster: Thanks for the great suggestions so far! and to clarify, I want the key so I can play along with a specific version on iTunes or YouTube, not so that *I* can sing it in that key. I do understand the I-IV-V and sometimes ii, so that's not a problem. And, spitbull: I forgot about Walking the Floor Over You and how much I love that song! thanks! Re: the F#--the key is F# but I play it in E position capo'ed.
