Cheap Pashminas

I want giant pashmina scarves...lots of them. Where can I order them really, really cheaply online?

In Asia, I found huge, colorful, mass-produced ones for around 4 dollars each. In the Middle East, one of my friends got a pashmina with wool in it for about 8 dollars. Are there prices comparable to these online in the US? Most of the scarves I see in stores are around 40 dollars, which I can't afford.

Amazon has a ton. Just do a search for "Pashmina".

Response by poster: Sorry, I had another paragraph that I must have left out. I was hoping to not use Amazon if possible. Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll definitely go that route if nothing else is as cheap.

If you want LOTS cheaply, try Alibaba.com.

Note that in a literal sense 'pashmina' is a term that describes a certain type of wool, not the shawls themselves.

Have you tried ebay?

Do you live anywhere near a Chinatown? Every Chinatown I've ever visited (NYC, San Francisco, London) has stores piled high with pashminas of varying thicknesses and designs, some as light as gossamer, others much thicker and more scarf-like. I'm sure if you can get to Chinatown (somewhere) they'd be happy to do a deal for you. I've bought them at 3 for $10 for plain ones and 3 for $15 for really nice patterned ones.

I have a giant, colorful sarong that works beautifully as a scarf. It's a little larger than I think most pashmina scarves are, and it's thin, soft cotton. So that's another search term you could try.

There's the aptly named 'Affordable Scarves.' They have a whole section of pashmina scarves and their prices are in the $10-15 range for most of the items on offer.

Also, I will agree with Kerasia that 'pashmina' does not mean 'soft scarf' but rather 'particular-blend-of-wool scarf' (though by your mention of the Middle East, you may know this) and there are lots of lovely, warm, soft scarves that are often made out of artificial materials such as viscose (sounds awful, feels lovely, basically rayon).

If in fact you are willing to branch out a bit, Forever 21 has some amazing scarves of all different materials for around $10. I have a scarf from them and I constantly get compliments on it and it's completely the highest quality (a surprise, I know, given their rep).

I've found great ones, from India, on Etsy.

In particular, I have purchased a beautiful pashmina from this shop.
